Did you know swans swim and feed in the sea? I didn't but saw some today doing just that today. Cold and grey again with a strong sidewind but dry, well for about the first twenty minutes, then it drizzled all the way. Fairly straightforward cycle up, up, up, then down and then flat. Some great views of Malmo and the Oresund bridge linking Malmo and Copenhagen (not allowed to cycle over that or I'd be off over it tomorrow!) with some great wildflowers at the roadside. I stopped to take some pics as a lady came to pick some of the blue cornflowers whcih she told the name for in Swedish (don't ask!). She told me tomorrow is midsommar festival in Sweden, it's a holidayand there will be lots of eating of pickled herring. I mentioned we had rollmops at home in Scotland which are the same and we got chatting about Scotland and Ireland where she had holidayed. Anyway it's mid summer and very cold, grey and windy, but apparently last year was gorgeous but then I was in hospital, so sodd's law, maybe the devil isn't so go to his own after all! Malmo reminds me of Moscow in parts, Brussels in others and Paris in parts buildings, squares and avenues wise. I found a post office and bought a package and stamps etc to return the keys to the B&B in Vejle, and bought a stamp and postcard to send to Kirsten in Emden so she knows I completed it this year and falling off is not an annual event (touch wood). Walking back I noticed signs saying shops were closed for midsommar and Saturday and began to panic that the trains may be off too. I could be stuck here! Off to the station and they are running all over the holiday every 20minutes from platform 1B "normally" he said from 4 am. So off to Copenhagen tomorrow on the train then back via Hamburg and Rotterdam. I will keep this blog going until I get home. Til tomorrow.
